A Conversation About the Future of Real Estate in Phuket– My Experience at the Golden Brick Awards 2025

On Friday, May 23rd, I had the pleasure of joining one of the most meaningful events of the year for Thailand’s real estate industry: the Golden Brick Awards 2025, held at the beautiful Angsana Laguna Phuket. I want to sincerely thank MOSS’in for the invitation and for creating such a thoughtful space for dialogue among developers, banks, investors, and real estate professionals.

Yes, the evening had all the elegance you’d expect — but what struck me most was the genuine spirit of collaboration. It wasn’t a show. It was a chance for honest discussion about where our industry is heading. One initiative that stood out was the launch of the Whitelist Developers registry — a verified list of companies audited on financial sustainability, legal transparency, and reputation. A small but meaningful step toward building long-term trust in the market, especially for international investors eyeing Phuket.

I was also invited to speak during a panel discussion alongside representatives from Siam Commercial Bank and several of Phuket’s most respected developers. My talk focused on something close to my heart: Phuket Capital Appreciation — the increase in an asset’s value over time, beyond just rental returns.

In a market like Phuket, which is often viewed only through the lens of tourism or short-term rentals, it felt important to talk about the longer-term vision At Holiplanet, we often work with investors who, a few years after buying, begin to realize that the most meaningful return isn’t just the monthly income — it’s the asset’s ability to grow in value over time, provided it's selected, managed, and positioned correctly.

Of course, that’s not an easy topic to unpack in a ten-minute speech. But what I truly appreciated was the dialogue it sparked afterward. Several attendees — developers, advisors, even financial partners — came up to continue the discussion and explore ways to better communicate Phuket’s “hidden” potential** to international buyers. Compared to cities like Singapore, Hong Kong, or even Bangkok, Phuket’s price per square meter is still relatively low. That gap presents a unique opportunity.

So no, I didn’t leave the Golden Brick Awards with a trophy or a headline to post. But I came back with something far more valuable: a sense that something is shifting in our industry. That there’s a growing appetite for professionalism, for integrity, and for a more long-term, structured vision of real estate in Phuket and across Asia.

I'm grateful for every conversation I had, for the opportunity to share and to listen. And I’m already looking forward to the next chapter — because the future of real estate, I believe, is going to be built together.
