Find places to eat in Catania, from seafood trattorias beside La Pescheria and pasta alla Norma in the Baroque lanes to Michelin-starred tasting menus and the seafront at Ognina and Aci Trezza. Check contacts and plan your next meal.
Catania eats from its market. At La Pescheria, the fish market behind Piazza del Duomo, swordfish, sea urchins and anchovies go straight to the trattorias of Via Pardo and Via Gisira. Pasta alla Norma, with fried aubergine, tomato and salted ricotta, takes its name from Bellini’s opera, and along Via Plebiscito grills still cook horse meat, a Catanese tradition. Around Via dei Crociferi and San Francesco, historic lanes hold pizzerias and bistros, while Corso Italia, Viale Africa and Ognina gather seafood restaurants and creative tasting menus, including Catania’s two Michelin-starred tables, Coria and Sapio. Holiplanet built this list on 26 October 2026, checking each restaurant on its official website or, where none exists, on the Michelin Guide, Gambero Rosso and the official Italian tourism portal, and keeping only places with table service and a full menu: no takeaway counters, bars or pastry shops. It is an independent selection, never paid. For what to see between meals, open the Catania City Guide below.
